LEISURE AND ENTERTAINMENT

okay...first i want to tell you about the two minute clip of the show ''COPS" that i saw the other night while channel surfing....now i'm not trying to make fun of trashy hicks, (well, maybe i am just a little...), but this was straight up amusing....when i stopped surfing for a minute to watch, the cops were handcuffing a very pregnant young girl who was crying hysterically....i don't think she was the one who did anything wrong...they just handcuffed her and sat her down so she'd chill out a little....then, they were talking to a young guy who was also handcuffed.....oh, and i forgot to tell you that the cops sat the pregnant girl down on a couch that was sitting OUTSIDE of the trailer all these people were living in.....details are important. anyway, the guy was being questioned, and apparently he was fighting with his mom, and she had picked up a stick...i don't know, your average hillbilly domestic battery case. then the cops go in to talk to the mother, who was sporting the conventional brown curly fem-lette and eyeshadow in a very questionable shade of blue or green. her explanation of the situation at hand is why i'm telling you this story....please read it in your most southern accented hick voice........."He's my son, okay....and he left home when he was 18 years old, okay.....that's his girlfriend out there, and she's pregnant, and they were living with his dad, and then they lived with her parents, and things weren't working out, so i let them move back in here with me....he sells vacuum cleaners for a living, and he's not selling em, and that's how he makes money, so he comes home pretty crabby....well he came home tonight in a bad mood, and he had just bought 20 dollars in groceries....he bought bread, and milk, and yogurt....anyway, he was mad cause someone ate the yogurt, the yogurt was gone, there was no yogurt...and he started yelling, well no one eats yogurt but them, but see he was mad cause he spent money for groceries and now it was gone, okay....but i pay all the bills around here, okay.....i let them move back in here with me when he lost his job at Little Caeser's........."

I wanted to laugh and cry and the same time....it was so bad and i felt sorry for them, but it was kinda funny.......so on to my next story.......I read "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. I was just going to start reading it one night before I went to sleep, and i couldn't put it down....i read the entire book in less than three hours....everyone should read it. It is brilliant. When you can cry and feel so many other emotions from a book, you gotta know it's good. It reminded me a little of the movie "What Dreams may Come" with Robin Williams, but so much better and more spiritual......if you've ever wondered what life is about, or what your life means, or even why things happen the way they do, this book will make you think....it is great....i almost wish i could have given it to the fem-lette and her son....i hope old boy can sell enough vacuum's to have some money to take his pregnant girlfriend to the movies to see "the Passion"....i haven't seen it yet, but I know there's a God, and maybe that's all those people need to have a better life.........just thoughts.
