like sands thru the hour glass......
hello everyone. let me tell you what's been up with me.....i finally moved into my house....well, i'm not quite settled, but i'm sleeping there. there are about 5 laundry baskets full of clothes in my kitchen, along with numerous boxes of crap that i probably don't even need, and i can't really walk through my bedroom, but my living room is cute!! i need to purchase a pair of binoculars to watch my postage stamp size television from my couch, and i don't have a refrigerator or any food (with the exeception of a bag of Dill Pickle Potato Chips...which are awesome, by the way)...but it's my home for now. being alone is a learning experience....let me tell ya. and i am alone. i haven't been going out, cause frankly streator is like the ever popular daytime soap opera "Days of Our Lives"...you can miss out for years, and still pick right up where you left off...it's all the same drama. plus, i don't really have the money.......here's another wonderful fact in my life thus far. i filed my taxes and now owe the state 174 dollars, and the federal 1490 dollars.....yes, i said one thousand, four hundred, and ninety dollars.......the studio didn't take taxes out of my check for the first four months i worked there, so now uncle sam wants to be reimbursed......to you, Uncle Sam, i say, "Stand in line". but i won't even get into all my money woes....no one wants to hear that crap....everyone's got problems.
today was one of the crappiest days in the pharmacy thus far.....we were shorthanded, so i stayed an extra two hours (which is fine because of the above mentioned crisis), but every single pill popper that came through that place had some sort of problem....the insurance wouldn't pay, or it was too soon to get their medicine, or my mother is throwing up in the car, blah, blah, blah.......
but i'm still smiling....weird, huh?? seeing as how two days ago i was crying at the thought of the overwhelming debt i'm in, the fact that i can't fly to cali to drive home with my brother, i'm living in this shit town alone, and so on and so on.......i do want to give a shout out to the best brother anyone could ever have, and i'm not just saying that.......he gave me a small pep talk on the phone, and then reminded me that he loves me......i love you too, scotty.
anywho, i just took a shower at mom's house, because, oh, yeah, here's another story....the shower at my house is in the scary basement.....well, it's really just a shower head pointing down towards the nasty concrete floor surrounded by a moldy shower curtain.....it's freezing down there, and the water is not as hot as i'm used to, so the first and only time i've tried cleaning myself this way lasted about 2 minutes because i was shivering.....i tried going back to my 10 year old days of taking a bath, only this time it's not followed by the horrid pink brush episode that was used to rip mine and my sister's hair out by it's roots...(i swear, my mom has a blond and brunette wig somewhere in a keepsake box made from chunks of hair in which she cleaned out of that satanic pink brush).....anyway, baths do not really make me feel clean, there more meant for relaxing, which i don't have time to do when i get up half an hour before i have to be at work....so i've settled for washing my hair in the kitchen sink and then jumping in a quick bath to rid myself of any smell before heading to walgreens..........which, in short, (hahaha) is the reason i took a long shower at mom's tonight when i got off work.....i feel clean, shaved and happy.
You may also be interested to know that i've decided not to stick around here too long.....i don't know when this will happen, or how for that matter, but one day i'm going to leave here and head west. my mom used to always say that one day she was going to go out for milk, and maybe not come back, and fortunately, she never did that, but i just may. i decided that streator is no place for a single, 27 year old, intelligent young woman to live happily, so i'm planning my escape. i will do something risky and adventerous before i'm 30, or as i told my mom today, before i'm 28. i'm going to stop worrying about what everyone thinks, and find out what makes me happy........i guess that's pretty much it. you gotta do what ya gotta do.....
